electricity rates increasing

Electricity price increased by Rs4.56 per unit for Feb 2024

In Islamabad, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has announced a significant rise in electricity prices, with an increase of Rs4.56 per unit. This hike is due to adjustments in fuel costs for December 2023.

Nepra issued a notification detailing the increase, which is expected to place an additional financial burden of Rs39.80 billion on consumers, who are already grappling with soaring gas prices.

Consumers will see the impact of this increase in their electricity bills for February 2024, with each unit costing Rs4.56 more. However, it’s important to note that these revised prices won’t affect K-Electric and lifeline consumers.

This announcement follows a previous increase made by Nepra in November of the previous year.
