According to experts, they discovered a bacterium that will protect the mosquitoes from malaria.
Team of UK and Kenya researched on it and said that the discovery of bacterium have extreme potential to cure the disease of malaria. Malaria spreads from the bite of infected mosquitoes and when mosquitoes are protected then people will also protect them self from Malaria.
Nowadays, experts are working in a project on how they can protect malaria infected mosquitoes and how they can stop the spreading of the disease using spores. The microbes or bacterium is called Microsporidia MB and this was found among the mosquitoes of Kenya.
Researchers said that not even a single mosquito found malaria that had a microbe. Microbe was found naturally 5% in insects.
Dr. Jeremy Herren, from the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE) in Kenya said that the data we have suggested that it is 100% blockage and necessary for Malaria. He also said that we can consider it as a big surprise and people will find a big breakthrough.
He further said that to stop spreading of malaria then 40% of mosquitoes must have 40% of microbe in the region.
This discovery is really important and we are excited by its positive result to control Malaria said by Prof Steven Sinkins.
