Netflix the world’s largest video streaming service has got surpassed over 200 million global subscribers and now the company looking at the crackdown on password sharing.

Netflix streamline service has confirmed that it is trialing a crackdown on password sharing on the platform. It could be added to the security of your account. Netflix users have reported, that seeing the screen telling them that if they don’t live with the owner of this account they want to get their account. Therefore Netflix is launching a crackdown on the password sharing feature. The new feature provides a security layer for Netflix accounts to prevent people who are not authorized to use the account from accessing it.

Netflix was not so much concerned about account password sharing in the past because the company has been bolstered by a large number of subscribers and has a top stock price which kept the management not to worry about this. And now they are trying to set a platform for every user to verify the account.

In these trials, the user can verify the account through email or text notification that they are allowed to use the account. According to Reuter, these trials are limited to a small number of viewers. the basic purpose of this test is to authorize the account that they might be required verification to sign up their own account before using it.

Netflix Is Considering A Crackdown On Password Sharing

The research firm Magid has indicated that 33% of all Netflix users share their account passwords with someone else. Now they would need all of the Netflix users to verify their account before continue streaming services. Moreover, Netflix hasn’t given any statement about the launching of this test.

Most of the streaming services allow one user to create multiple profiles on one profile at different platforms including Netflix, Disney+,  HBO Go, and all Amazon Prime. However, terms & conditions say that these profiles are designed for people that lived in the same household.
