According to health officials in the Hamas-run Gaza Strip, the toll stands at over 20,000 Palestinians killed in the war between Israel and Hamas. This figure represents nearly one percent of the territory’s prewar population, highlighting the profound human cost of the conflict.
Over just over 10 weeks, the war has led to the displacement of more than 80 percent of Gaza’s people. The health ministry in Gaza reported 20,057 documented deaths, without distinguishing between combatant and civilian casualties. Notably, it has previously been noted that approximately two-thirds of the deceased were women or minors.
